UNA'S PATRONS ARE INTEGRAL TO OUR WORK.
Support of the company has made a huge impact and enabled us to do some amazing creating, dancing, teaching, performing and traveling in 2019 - Some highlights include the world premiere of COLORING in SF at the ODC Theater, the NYC premiere at the 92nd St. Y, and our Canadian premiere in BC/Vancouver for the Chutzpah! Festival. It was an especially wonderful experience learning from and performing for the Namgis First Nation Community. We also had the unforgettable opportunity to develop and perform new work Grass is Green in both Kaga and Tokyo, Japan!
Because of all our mentors, donors, collaborators and everyone we’ve engaged with through our dancing, we’ve grown immensely and each year has been so impactful. And each year we have more opportunity to engage with communities around the globe.
2020 is going to be a year of change, opportunity and growth for UNA! We will be continuing our residency through CUNY Dance Initiative at Brooklyn College and performing excerpts of new work Grass is Green during APAP (NYC). UNA will also be in residence at Berkeley Ballet Theater as their second Artists in Residence. I am excited to be creating new work for Berkeley Ballet Theater/Post Ballet’s performance Rightfully Ours which celebrates the 100th Anniversary of the 19th Amendment, and will be performed at the YBCA Theater. We will also be setting repertory on the LINES Ballet Professional Training Program, and will be returning to Springboard Danse Montreal as a Resident Choreographer - which is an exciting opportunity for the company to be in residence as well as create and showcase new work amongst some of the top choreographers in the world. In the Fall, I will also be creating a new work for the Second Avenue Dance Company/Class of 2021 at my Alma Mater NYU Tisch Dance! We will be having additional residencies and performances in Encinitas, San Francisco, NYC and Vermont- stay tuned for opportunities to join us in the studio or see UNA perform!
UNA’s continued work and involvement in the community is primarily made possible through the generosity and vision of our donors. As we expand, our funding sources have diversified to include earned income, grants from foundations including the Rainin Foundation, the Ford Foundation and the Rockefeller Brothers Fund, sponsorship and in-kind support from small businesses, corporate matching such as from Bank of America, as well as donations from our individual patrons. In order to achieve our goals for the rest of our Season, we invite you to join UNA’s community and help us grow our impact through your charitable support.
Every gift matters and helps us reach $20,000.
UNA has multiple tiers of giving, each with unique benefits and meaningful ways to engage with the company.
Thank you for your continued support and for being a part of UNA’s family - from everyone at UNA,
Sincerely, Chuck Wilt & the Artists of UNA
